Glee - The Final Season

Gleeks abound rejoice! "Glee -- The Final Season," the sixth and final season of the TV hit, is now available on DVD. The set comes complete with all 13 episodes from the 2015 season.

Season highs from GS6 include guest stars Carol Burnett, Harry Hamlin, Gloria Estefan and Jennifer Coolidge, among others. A favorite stand-out episode is "Transitioning," a dramatic addressing of the struggles of transgendered teacher "Coach Beast." It gives an important voice to an unheard-of struggle rarely addressed in network prime time television. "Glee" Season 6 sees gay weddings abound, and in the series' final episode a nice flash-forward, with neatly wrapped up character storylines for our main characters.

Extras in the Season 6 DVD set include: The traditional "Glee Music Jukebox"; the short "Glee: The Final Countdown," highlighting the final season and the wrap of an iconic series; and a most special featurette, "Looking Back Video Yearbook," recapping how the series has affected the world and its creators.

The blessing (and the curse) of "Glee's" final season is that although its producers and writers aimed to close out the lives of Rachel, Kurt, Sam, Mercedes and Mr. Schuester, they also took a devil-may-care attitude for their final "whatever happens, happens" season. In doing so, self-proclaimed Gleeks will experience a plethora of almost unbelievable narratives, but will most likely embrace it, despite the far-out handiwork of its creators.

"Glee" reinvented television for the musical theatre sect, but more importantly gave an entire new audience a weekly safe haven. This musical "Square Pegs" high school production glimmers with the sincere, heartfelt intent that originally was lost after the first 3 to 4 seasons. This 5-disc DVD set pays wonderful tribute, signing the Senior yearbook for its stars, and tossing its graduation cap proudly in the air.
