Straight Canadian Man Attacked for Being Perceived as Gay

A straight man from Canada says he was physically attacked for the second time for "looking gay," Canada's the Now reports.

Kerry Tyler Street, 25, from Surrey, British Columbia, Canada, told the newspaper he was attacked around 3 p.m. on Wednesday when he was skateboarding by a man. According to the Now, the suspect allegedly punched Street in the face, causing him to fall and cause injury to his nose and jaw.

Street says that the suspect then kicked him in his face a number of times while screaming, "faggot this, faggot that." He said four witnesses helped him as the attacker "just kind of walked away."

"I'm lying there in a pool of my own blood, it's getting bigger and bigger, and he just kind of walks away," Street told the Now. "It makes me quite literally sick to my stomach."

This isn't the first time Street, who identifies as straight, has been attacked by someone who thought he was gay.

A few years ago, Street says that a group of three young men beat him because they had a problem with his hair being dyed blue. In this attack, Street suffered a broken nose and ribs.

"They held me down and pretended to have sex with me while I was bleeding," Street told the publication, adding that the suspects were never caught.

According to local authorities, police are currently looking for the suspect in Street's latest case. They're also looking for witnesses and reviewing video footage from where the incident occurred. The suspect has been described as a white man, about six-feet tall and more than 200 pounds, with short cropped light brown or dirty blond hair, in his late 20s or early 30s. Street said he has "zits on his face."

Street will have to undergo restorative surgery to replace his four front teeth, which will cost $2,000.

"It's money I don't have, but my family's helping with that, thankfully," he said.

Soon after Street was released from the hospital on Wednesday he created a YouTube video, discussing the attack.

"A big thank you to the four people that stopped and waited with me till the paramedics came, you are hero's, and I'm eternally grateful," the clip's description reads. "My jaw is fractured, my nose is broken and I'm going to lose four teeth. All because I had the misfortune of being in the wrong place at the wrong time, whilst simultaneously being far too close to a true psychotic asshole."
