Trans woman receives HIV award at diversity conference

JoAnne Keatley received an award given by Kaiser Permanente honoring her work with California's HIV patients at the 33rd annual Diversity Conference, held in Los Angeles Oct. 27.
Keatley is a member of the California State Office of AIDS Latino Advisory Board and the project director of Health Studies for People of Color at the University of California, San Francisco. According to The Advocate, Keatley received one of Kaiser Permanente's National Diversity HIV/AIDS awards for her work leading teams of researchers and students, and for her status as a transgender Latina role model.
