Braintree police are investigating allegations of an attack by a Charlie Baker supporter Oct. 30.
36-year-old Chris Ellis-Hibbett, a Dorchester lesbian, was shopping with her wife Denise Ellis-Hibbett at Five Corners when they encountered a group of Charlie Baker supporters holding signs -- one of which implied that a vote for Baker would mean a vote against same-sex marriage. Chris told Blast magazine that she approached the man holding the anti-marriage equality sign and the two engaged in an argument about gay rights that ended physically.
Charlie Baker supports same-sex marriage, and has a brother who is openly gay. His running mate, State Sen. Richard Tisei, is also openly gay.
According to the women, the man raised his fist, pressed it against Chris' chin, and then followed through, pushing her face away. An investigation is ongoing.
